This site is generated from the "Automotive Design: Incoporating the Needs of Pregnant Women" project at Loughborough University. The aim of the research is to generate guidelines and an information resource for designers in the automotive industry and their suppliers in order to improve the quality of life for pregnant women both as drivers and passengers. The project is funded by the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

The information from this study will be analysed and used to generate a set of guidelines for the automotive companies to use, in order to design cars more suited to the needs of pregnant women.

The information you provide is entirely confidential and your identity will not be disclosed to any third parties. The data will be held at Loughborough University. The results of the project will be published as academic papers and presentations, and as a website.

For Automotive Designers:

You are invited to use the 'Anthropometric Measurements' to aid vehicle design for the pregnant occupant.

The aim is to improve safety and comfort for pregnant women during all aspects of car travel. The anthropometric measurements were selected expressely for use in vehicle design.
